Paul Jürgens is a designer, editor and publisher based in Vienna. His work ranges from artist publications and editorial design to visual identities and printed matter — grounded in a conceptual approach that connects making with thinking.
Paul Jürgens is a designer, editor and publisher based in Vienna, raised in Cologne . His practice moves across editorial design, book design and visual communication, with a particular focus on publications in the fields of art and culture. He holds a diploma in communication design and is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Art and Cultural Studies at the University of Applied Arts Vienna — a context that deepens his understanding of design as a practice with theoretical and conceptual dimensions.
His work ranges from artist books and exhibition catalogues to visual identities, posters and printed matter, developed in close collaboration with artists, authors and institutions. He has worked with Tanzquartier Wien, Kunsthalle Darmstadt, Synagoge Stommeln, social.form Architektur, Kerber Verlag, Hirmer Verlag, Slanted Publishers and Grass Publishers, among others.
Since 2023, he has been a member of windpark books, an independent publisher for which he coordinates the development and production of artist publications — managing editorial workflows, collaborating with authors, designers and printers, and supporting distribution and public programming. In 2025, he co-founded edition ensemble, a non-profit publishing initiative dedicated to art, theory and cultural practice.
Paul Jürgens understands publishing not as a niche, but as a way of thinking about how ideas take form — a perspective that runs through all of his work.
